I grew up in Sydney with parents that were always seeking natural cures, homeopathy and alternate therapies for treating childhood illnesses. My mother, Marijke started studying reflexology when I was in high school so I received many treatments and loved learning with her. Seeing the power in this healing modality, it inspired me to study massage of all different forms. I studied Remedial massage at Nature Care College in Sydney and also delved into Polarity Therapy, Bush and Bach Flower Essences and Holistic Counselling. During my studies I worked at The Australian Bush Flower Essences dispensary learning and soaking up all the information I could about each essence.
During my teens I had some big wake up calls that set me onto my spiritual path to find inner peace and the deeper meaning to my life. I explored different styles of meditation/creative visualisation, Yoga and was privileged to assist in many Sound/toning and Self development workshops with Steven Cottee, teacher at 'School of Life' in Sydney. Doing workshops with Chris James and other healers that recognised the voice as a powerful instrument in healing and self expression as well as training in creative arts therapy, I discovered my love for sound and the healing power of self-expression through voice, movement and expressive arts.
My love for different styles of massage lead me into discovering hawiian bodywork, a beautiful ancient form of massage used in those days as a rites of passage. Training with the School of Kahuna Sciences in Mullumbimby and travelling to Hawaii to train with a Kahuna of liniage in Kauai. I went on to study Chinese Acupressure massage which opened little doors into treating deeper internal conditions through the acupuncture points and meridians. This training is what lead me to study acupuncture and Chinese herbs at the Sydney Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine. I also spent 3 months in China observing in a TCM hospital learning from some of the best doctors in Beijing.
Leaving behind my clinic in Sydney in 2009 to follow my dream of owning a healing centre in Byron Bay, I worked for a few different local businesses including the 5 star spa at The Byron @ Byron and Kiva Spa in Mullumbimby while I built up my practice.
Only a few years ago I discovered my deep connection to yoga through a Sivananda yoga class. Before this i never really felt like yoga did all the things it claimed to do. This one class changed my life, made me realise what real yoga was all about, and so set me on a journey to discover more. After 6months of doing regular classes, I was drawn to do the Teachers training course in India in Feb 2012. Since then I have been dedicated to integrating my spiritual practice into my daily life through Meditation, chanting and yoga practice.
I am currently loving studying Transpersonal arts therapy in Brisbane where I have delved into accessing the subconscious, and altering states of consciousness via expressive therapies to gain deeper insight, open intuition and strengthen the connection to source.
Gathering all that I have learned together I know run Women's retreats with my friend and soul sister Seriya (Akshaya Healing). We became inspired to run Women's retreats and workshops offering yoga classes, meditation, a variety of workshops and massage sessions at this beautiful sanctuary in Byron Bay. We have also offered weekly Kirtan(chanting) nights for the past 2 years and are now running them fortnightly. I also am part of a beautiful team of acupuncturists who run regular affordable acupuncture sessions at Community Acupuncture in Mullumbimby.
My passion is to help people to remember that they have deep peace and stillness already within them, assisting people in balancing their health and empowering them in their own healing process.
Blessings of light and love
